The M.I.R.R.O.R Image Youth Minstry meets on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm. They participate in various social outings and annual trips such as summer camp, Winterfest, and King’s Island. One great feature of this ministry is it’s drama team.
Mirror Image Youth Ministry plays a key role in ministering to the middle and high school- aged students of Open Door through weekly youth services on Wednesday night, Christian Life 101 Bible studies on Sunday morning, and regularly scheduled events and trips that take place throughout the year.
The primary goal of Mirror Image can be summed up in a passage of New Testament scripture, which reads: For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. (2 Corinthians 3:17-18 – NLT)
From this verse, we base the mission and focus of Mirror Image to impact the students of Open Door, and the lives of those that we come into contact with everyday. After all, just like the scripture says, there should be freedom in serving Christ, and serving others!
The main focus of our Wednesday night youth service, is to help us get ready to serve. Yeah…we have a good time, with some fun and games, but when it really gets down to it, this is an exciting time of worship and hearing from the Word. The truth is, that we all go through a lot of stuff, and this is a time to lay down all the distractions, and let God speak and move in a way that only He can. Likewise, on Sunday morning, our focus is on studying the Word through discussion, video, and teaching that gets to the heart of what we need to hear.
Trust me, we do have a lot of fun. Every other month we meet for a House Party at the home of one of our awesome youth leaders…food, games, sports…you name it, and we’ve got it. Not to mention, a number of our students are actively involved in various ministries at Open Door, including our Media/Sound team, Worship team, our Nursery and toddler workers, and ODCC’s rockin’ N2Y Children’s Ministry. In addition to serving on a weekly basis, we have occasional service projects, such as our Christmas wrapping paper drive for a local children’s home.
You’ve got to come and check out Mirror Image. Why not make it this Wednesday at 7pm…You’re going to be glad you came!
